The Agency is not aware of any food safety issues brought about by treating food with UV light or of any current legislation prohibiting its use.
UV radiation does not fall within the scope of The Food Irradiation (England) Regulations 2009 and so foods that have been treated in this way would not be considered irradiated foods.
Additionally there is no labelling requirement with regards to labelling foods that have been treated with UV-C.
